The International School of Amsterdam, Netherlands

The story of the International School of Amsterdam is a children’s story. It is the story of the many hundreds of high-spirited, colorful young personalities from around the world who have passed through the school’s corridors and classrooms during its first half century. It is the story of those children seeking to fulfil their educational potential.

Accreditation: Accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges since 1983 formerly conducted in a ten-year cycle the process occurs now every five years.
Extracurricular: ISA offers a programme of after school activities to add diversity to the learning experience and an important social element to the lives of the students from Pre-School to grade 12.
ISA also provides students with the opportunity to learn and/or improve their musical talents by participating in our Ensemble, Lower or Upper School Choir, our Percussion groups or our ISA Music Academy (instrument and vocal lessons). Sign-ups for these activities must be done directly through the group organizer.
Libraries: The libraries are here to make sure students can find their next great read, see themselves reflected in our collections, and become avid explorers and creators in the world of ideas and information. Our instructional programs are fully integrated into ISA’s PYP, MYP, and DP curricular frameworks, and are richly resourced in both print and digital collections accessible to members of our learning community wherever they are reading and learning. The three library facilities are student-centered, state of the art instructional hubs and celebrate all members of the ISA community through diverse texts, languages, and viewpoints.
A Culture of Thinking: At ISA we foster curiosity, creativity, and a passion for learning that inspires students to look beyond simple answers and facts, to pursue truth and understanding. We cultivate students’ thinking skills and learning dispositions in ways that lead to greater self-awareness, genuine open-mindedness, and deeper content learning.
At ISA we have established a “culture of thinking” through our 20-year collaboration with Harvard Graduate School of Education’s research department Project Zero.
