Student Life: Our goal is for each student to feel a sense of engagement and belonging within the school community. There is no better way for this to become a reality than through the experience of being part of a team, a club or an activity. At ISH we seek through our extra-curricular activities to encourage not only skills and interests, but also to develop ethical decision-makers who are able to place the needs of the group ahead of those of any single individual.
Beyond the Classroom: We know that our students’ curiosity and interests do not end with the school day. Our commitment to our students learning experience extends beyonds the classroom and into our After School Program. Whether it’s art, science, sports or community engagement you can explore your unique interests.
Student Support: The Student Support Services Team (SSST) screens, determines services, and monitors referred students whose significant social, emotional, behavioural, or academic differences have been noticed by class or subject teachers.
Following a set referral procedure, team members assess the student’s needs, through consultation, observation and testing. Then a team recommendation is made regarding the specialist and the type of support the student needs to develop to their fullest potential.
Tuition & Fees: ISH is a non-for profit school and its running costs are covered by tuition fees. These are set each year by the school’s Board of Trustees.
Athletics: Our Sports Programme at the International School Hamburg offers a wide range of sports activities for girls and boys. Students can take part in the Northwest European Council of International Schools (NECIS) Sports Programme or our Intramural Sports Programme.
Founded in 1957, ISH was the first international school in Germany and an early adopter of the International Baccalaureate programme.
We are an independent, non-profit association with about 720 students from over 50 nationalities.
We offer English language curricula for students from early years to Grade 12 (ages 3 to 18). This includes the International Primary Curriculum (age 3-10), the IB Middle Years Programme (ages 11-15) and the IB Diploma Programme and IB Career-related Programme (ages 16-18).
Co-curricular: Our co-curricular program is comprised of everything outside of the school day.
The program has a solid foundation of athletics & co-curricular activities, as well as an exciting After School Care program and options for ISH school holidays.
