Albany High is one of the top public high schools in California. We have a diverse student body, a range of great programs including numerous CTE pathways, two AP Computer Science courses, multiple levels of Dance and more. We have State-qualifying runners, wrestlers and tennis players. We create. We think. We solve. We play.
School: Albany High School is the only comprehensive high school in the Albany Unified School District. It has approximately 1150 students in grades 9 through 12. The school offers seven periods per day, two semesters per academic year. Each semester is a minimum of 18 weeks. We use a modified block schedule with all classes meeting on Monday for 50 minutes, odd periods meeting Tues/Thurs and even periods meeting on Wed/Fri for 95 minutes each.

Students: The school has a diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural population, composed of about 16% Hispanic/Latinx, 32% White, 27% Asian, 4% African-American, and 16% multi-ethnic. We have 6% English Learners and 34% fluent-English proficient students. At least 23% of students qualify for the Free/Reduced Price Lunch Program. The graduation rate for recent cohorts is around 95%.
Curriculum: Advanced Placement courses are offered in English Lit., French, Mandarin, Spanish, Calculus AB & BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Art History, Studio Art, Computer Science, and Comparative Government. Honors courses are offered in English 3, Pre-Calculus and Visual Art. Advanced courses are offered in Art, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Photography, and Journalism. Special programs include EDSET (Environmental Design, Society, English, and Technology), a two-year program for 11th and 12th grade including an internship component. We offer a limited number of sections of many advanced and special classes, which may result in schedule conflicts and preclude students from enrolling in some classes.
